When we first arrived in Vietnam, we had no idea that the country had one of the most unique languages in the world.
But in less than a year we have been able to master Vietnamese, which is one of only six Vietnamese languages on the planet, according to the United Nations.
The others are Tagalog, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and English.
It’s a fascinating, and sometimes confusing, experience.
